About Us
It would be an understatement to say that we have been through tough waters in life. We had a rough start in our earlier years of marriage almost leading to a divorce and a lot of downs in our faith. This is why we are so passionate about apologetics and who God is. We have a story to tell because of God’s grace and redemption throughout our marriage and our personal lives. Things like church hurt, our failures, doctrine, God has transformed and challenged our lives for the better.
Through the chaos, we got heavily involved in politics. While being in politics isn’t necessarily a bad thing and as Christians we need to stand up for morality, we made politics our idol. It was a way to fill the void and cover the pain we experienced in church and even in our marriage. We were those people (honest moment here) you would see on the street protesting and name calling others who didn’t agree with us. We had no regard for the imago dei or even the gospel. Simply put, we had no foundation under our feet.
Then Covid happened. DJ caught Covid in 2021 and was hospitalized for almost 2 weeks. Long story short, he almost lost his life. I (Damara) started to call into question God’s goodness. “Why would a good God allow my daughter to grow up without a dad?”. And I (DJ) accepted my fate of death on that hospital bed. Our faith was completely broken.
Immediately after the hospital stay and during the long period of healing, which took almost a year, we got into apologetics. For the first time, we started reading the Bible together and praying together, something we had never really done in our years of marriage before that. By God’s grace He granted us another chance to live solely for Him. That’s why we have a podcast now, to tell others about God’s goodness, the dangers of movements infiltrating the church, to speak up about church hurt, morality, and much more. While we are still far from perfect, we have a story to tell, and we hope it encourages you and helps you with whatever you are going through. There is hope and there is healing. We are the Hitched Apologists.

Beliefs
We believe in certain essential Christian beliefs. That include, but are not necessarily limited to, the triunity of God, the virgin birth of Christ, the deity of Christ, the all-sufficiency of Christs atoning sacrifice for sin, the physical and miraculous resurrection of Christ, the necessity of salvation by faith alone through God’s grace alone based on the work of Christ alone, the physical bodily return of Christ to earth, heaven and hell, the belief in the theistic God, belief in miracles, the belief in creation out of nothing, the historicity of Genesis.
