I watched the first night of the Democratic National Convention. As I was sifting through the constant ad hominem, straw-man attacks, and gaslighting. Two things came to my mind. Many of the speakers kept thanking God at the end of their speeches. It made me ponder. What god? Just a generic god? A god you’ve created in your own mind. Or possibly a darker god than that. It certainly wasn’t the God of the Bible. I didn’t hear anything that pointed to a biblical worldview of God. Which leads me to my next point. The speakers kept making statements like “better”, “good”, “right”, etc. All truth claims about what they believe is good. While on the other hand condemning others for what they have perceived as wrong. If we were to ask them if they believe in quotes such as “live your own truth” “do you” and the likes, they would most likely would say yes. This is antithetical to their worldview. They are not abiding by their own beliefs of relativism. Next as always, we must ask them by what standard do you judge what your belief as right and what others believe as wrong? If you do not believe in the God of the Bible, then you have no objective standard by which to judge others for what you deem right or wrong. At the end of the day, this is just a matter of opinion and can hold no weight. The problem with their opinions is that their opinion has real world consequences, especially on the moral issue of the wrongful murder of the unborn. “Morality” is something which they themselves cannot define unless they steal from our worldview. This first night of the DNC is all self-defeating rhetoric and because of this I say run far from the DNC.
